CT and NG package

CT and NG package is a genetic test that detects both Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) and Neisseria gonorrhoeae (NG) infections. These are two common sexually transmitted infections (STIs) caused by bacteria. Chlamydia trachomatis causes Chlamydia, whereas Neisseria gonorrhoeae bacterium causes Gonorrhoea. Chlamydia is usually treated with a single dose of the oral antibiotic azithromycin, and then a short course of the oral antibiotic Doxycycline for seven days. For Gonorrhoea, treatment consists of an intramuscular injection of an antibiotic called ceftriaxone, and oral antibiotic azithromycin.

A genetic test for CT and NG typically involves the use of nucleic acid amplification tests (NAATs) to detect the DNA of these bacteria in a patient’s sample, such as urine, swab, or other bodily fluids. These tests are highly sensitive and specific, making them effective in diagnosing infections even in asymptomatic individuals.
